Parewa Saraq Crossmark Policy
Parewa Saraq: Journal of Islamic Law and Fatwa Review is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and reliability of the scholarly record. This Crossmark Policy explains how the journal manages corrections, retractions, and other post-publication updates.
The journal participates in Crossmark, a service provided by Crossref that enables readers to determine whether a published work is current and to identify registered updates associated with it.
1. Purpose of Crossmark
Crossmark provides a standard mechanism for communicating the current status of published scholarly content. When the Crossmark button is available on an article, readers can use it to determine whether the publication has been updated and to access information about registered corrections, retractions, or other significant post-publication changes.
2. Types of Post-Publication Updates
Parewa Saraq: Journal of Islamic Law and Fatwa Review may issue post-publication updates when necessary to preserve the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
a. Correction, Erratum, or Corrigendum
A correction may be issued when a published article contains an error that requires formal correction but does not invalidate the article's overall findings or conclusions. Such errors may include:
- errors that materially affect the meaning of the published text;
- incorrect author or affiliation information;
- errors in figures, tables, citations, or references; or
- methodological or factual clarifications that require a formal publication notice.
Editorially significant corrections will normally be published as separate correction notices, linked to the original article, and registered with Crossref using the appropriate update relationship.
b. Addendum
An addendum may be published when additional information is necessary to clarify, supplement, or expand a published article without changing its principal findings or conclusions. The addendum will be linked to the original publication.
c. Expression of Concern
The journal may publish an Expression of Concern when credible concerns have been raised regarding the reliability, integrity, or ethical status of a published work but an investigation has not yet reached a final conclusion. The notice may remain in place until the matter has been resolved.
d. Retraction
An article may be retracted when there is clear evidence that its findings or publication record are unreliable or seriously compromised. Grounds for retraction may include:
- fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or other serious research misconduct;
- serious ethical violations;
- major methodological or analytical errors that invalidate the findings;
- duplicate or redundant publication; or
- serious copyright or legal violations.
A formal retraction notice will be linked to the affected article and registered as a post-publication update. The original scholarly record will normally remain accessible but will be clearly identified as retracted.
e. Withdrawal or Removal
In exceptional circumstances, the journal may withdraw or remove published content when required by legal, ethical, privacy, or serious safety considerations. Any such action will be documented transparently to the extent permitted by the circumstances.
3. Version Control and Article Status
The journal seeks to ensure that:
- the scholarly record remains persistent and traceable;
- significant post-publication changes are documented transparently;
- formal update notices are linked to the publications they affect; and
- readers can identify whether a publication has subsequently been corrected, updated, or retracted.
The Crossmark record provides readers with information about the current status of the publication and any registered post-publication updates.
4. DOI and Metadata Updates
Editorially significant post-publication updates will be registered with Crossref using appropriate metadata and relationships to the affected publication. Correction notices, retraction notices, and other significant update records will receive their own DOI where required by the Crossmark registration workflow.
Minor typographical or formatting changes that do not materially affect the interpretation, attribution, or metadata of the work may be corrected without issuing a separate Crossmark update.
5. Access to Updated Content
Where Crossmark has been implemented for an article, readers can click the Crossmark button displayed with the publication to check its current status and identify any registered updates. Crossmark information may be provided in the article's HTML version, PDF, or other supported publication formats.
6. Editorial Responsibility
