1. Introduction
Parewa Saraq: Journal of Islamic Law and Fatwa Review is a scholarly journal focusing on Islamic law and contemporary fatwa studies. The journal publishes original research that contributes to the development of Islamic legal studies, fatwa institutions, and related socio-legal and governance issues. Authors should present a clear research background, identify the scholarly problem or gap, and explain the significance and objectives of the study in the introduction.
2. Title, Author Name, and Author Information
The title of the manuscript should appear at the top of the first page and be aligned to the left. To preserve the journal's double-blind peer-review process, the author's name, affiliation, email address, and other identifying information must not appear in the manuscript file. Author information should instead be entered completely in the author's OJS profile and submission metadata.
The corresponding author's information must be entered in the online submission system. The corresponding author should be listed first where required by the journal's submission arrangement, followed by the other authors as applicable. Editorial communication concerning revision and final confirmation will be sent through the journal's online system and/or the corresponding author's registered email address.
Authors are also advised to remove document properties and personal information from the manuscript file before submission.
3. General Manuscript Guidelines
- The manuscript must present original research that has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere.
- The manuscript must be free from plagiarism. Manuscripts that indicate unacceptable plagiarism may be rejected by the Editorial Team.
- The submission and publication processes are free of charge, in accordance with the journal's current author-fee policy.
- Manuscripts must follow the Parewa Saraq: Journal of Islamic Law and Fatwa Review template and be submitted in Microsoft Word format through the journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS) submission platform.
- The journal template and manuscript-writing guidance should be reviewed before submission.
- Authors should complete all required submission steps and metadata in the online submission system.
- Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's author guidelines may be returned to the author before peer review.
- For double-blind review, the manuscript file should contain the article title, abstract, keywords, introduction, relevant literature or theoretical framework, methods, results and discussion, conclusion, and references. Author names, affiliations, email addresses, and other identifying information must be entered in OJS metadata rather than in the blinded manuscript file.
- Main sections should be presented in a clear and consistent order. Section headings should use Arabic numbering where required by the journal template, be written in bold, and use left alignment without underlining. Subsections should follow the numbering and formatting used in the journal template.
- Manuscripts may be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English using appropriate academic language. Manuscripts should normally contain approximately 5,000-9,000 words and use A4 paper (210 × 297 mm) with margins of 2.54 cm on all sides.
- The manuscript text should use Calibri, 12-point font, single-column layout, and exactly 18-point line spacing, unless otherwise specified in the current journal template.
- Foreign or uncommon terms should be italicized where appropriate. Arabic terms should use the transliteration system required by the journal. Paragraph, numbering, and other formatting should follow the current journal template.
- Tables and figures should be placed near the text in which they are first discussed. Figures must include captions below the figure, while tables must include titles above the table. Tables and figures should be numbered using Arabic numerals and must be clear and suitable for publication. Tables should not use vertical lines; horizontal lines should be used only where necessary.
4. Guidelines for the Manuscript Body
Title. The manuscript title should be informative, concise, clear, and directly related to the issue addressed in the article. Avoid uncommon abbreviations. The title should normally contain no more than fifteen words and should follow the font size and formatting specified in the journal template.
Abstract and Keywords. The abstract should not exceed 250 words and should be followed by three to five keywords. Font size and layout should follow the journal template.
Introduction. The introduction should present the research background, relevant state of the art, research gap, research problem or question, originality or contribution of the study, and the purpose of the article. References to previous research should be integrated into the discussion of the scholarly context rather than presented as an isolated list.
Literature Review or Theoretical Framework. Where applicable, this section should provide a systematic discussion of previous studies relevant to the research. It should identify the strengths and limitations of prior scholarship and present the theoretical concepts, principles, models, or analytical tools required to address the research problem. All cited sources must appear in the reference list.
Methods. The methods section should explain the research design, sources or data, analytical approach, and procedures used to address the research problem in sufficient detail.
Results and Discussion. This section should present the research findings and provide a substantive analysis of those findings. Claims should be supported by appropriate evidence and connected to the research questions or objectives stated in the introduction.
Conclusion. The conclusion should synthesize the principal findings and explain how they address the research objectives or questions. It should not merely repeat the results and discussion. Where relevant, authors may also identify implications, limitations, or directions for further research.
References. All works cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list. Authors should prioritize relevant primary scholarly sources. The journal requires that at least 80% of references come from scientific journals published within the last ten years and that each article include at least twenty references.
5. Citations and References
All data, quotations, ideas, and arguments derived from other sources must be properly cited. The journal follows APA Style for citations and references. Authors are strongly encouraged to manage references using Mendeley or Zotero.
